Stuff I need to accomplish during the Passover break
The TAU Passover break has begun.

Stuff I need to accomplish during break:

  1. A paper on Bleak House for the Dickens course
  2. Study for the Minoan Culture exam
  3. Go on translating Lysias
  4. Go on translating Odyssey, Book 11
  5. Go on translating Plato's Apology
  6. Read Genesis, Exodus, Judges, Samuel, Nehemiah
  7. Read a few articles for Intro to the History of Christianity
  8. Set up the new benyehuda.org dedicated server
  9. Show up at work a couple of times
  10. Hold a meeting of the Homer reading group, reading the seventh book of the Iliad
The break is thirteen days long. Oy.

Current Mood: happy

Can help w/7 but will the provider be available during their own academic break?

Also, didn't you plan on being in ol' Ellas part of the time? Or are you balking faced with the length of this list?

Gave up the Hellas plan, yeah.

I can help with item #7 on the list, that is, benyehuda.org server installation, but I fear Shenkar people will be on a break of their own, and not avialable to give us access to the machine.

Unless, that is, you already got the machine at your place or something.

Sometimes you're just too sensible.

Ah! So, see, #7 is actually not about benyehuda.org, and I was rather mystified.

I'd love your help. And, yes, they're on vacation too, it turns out, so #8 is delayed a bit.

Oops! Too many optical illusions must've gotten my eyes screwey! (And I thought it was supposed to work the other way or something)

What? Not even a week out of the *big house* and already you are swamped with work?

What languages do you translate between, by the way?

What do you mean by "already"? It's the same work I had been swamped with before my incarceration, plus everything that's piled up since...

I study classics, and am translating from Greek and Latin into Hebrew, for exercise (they're not literary translations, and I don't preserve the meter).

Could I borrow them once you're finished with them?

The articles? Sure. But they're rather specific; wouldn't you want to read an introductory book first?

I use to love translating from Greek, but I don't think that I would have enjoyed switching gears back and forth from long passages of Homeric to long passages of Classical. But, if you're comfortable with it, that's great.

regarding no. 6

Great books, I think I read them once or twice. I can save you the effort, and tell you more or less the main lines of the plot.

Did you really like Nehemiah? :p

Thanks for the offer, but I enjoy this too much to rely on hearsay... :)
