Doctorow on Bush
E.L. Doctorow, a writer whom I greatly appreciate (for his superb Ragtime), wrote some scathing words against President Bush. Not that you needed them...

Current Mood: worried
Current Music: Leonard Cohen -- Humbled in Love

I'm worried too. If he gets elected and institutes a draft, my little brother and I will do our best to emulate your refusenik conduct. We even have a stylish way of saying it around here:

You can get anything you want
At Alice's restaurant.
You can get anything you want
At Alice's restaurant.
Just walk right in, it's around the back
Just a half a mile from the railroad track;
You can get anything you want
At Alice's restaurant.

(If you're unfamiliar with the song, by the way, you should borrow a recording of it from your local library. Reprinting the entire 18-minute monologue doesn't do it justice.)

I really hate that man (Bush). But I really love Leonard Cohen.
