Phonetic writing was a bad idea, after all.
The real problem here is that the very nature of Hebrew writing does not allow separation of written and spoken lnaguages. English is spoken in tens of ways, but there are only two spellings. It doesn't bother anyone, since the connection of the written word to the sound is pretty weak anyway, whatever your favorite pronunciation is. Ditto Russian, and probably most European languages, and Chinese; maybe more.
So maybe a better reform will be to simply declare that the Hebrew writing is no more phonetic, starting today?
