In Hebrew the word "amphitheatre" received the meaning "outdoor threatre". It's not correct historically, but that's what it is. Picnic doesn't mean "outdoor eating" (it comes from French where it meant "to pick", meaning each person brought a dish, and wasn't necessarily outdoors), but you don't go correcting people about using that word erroneously, now do you?
It just makes you look so damn pompous when you do that...

I, for one, didn't know that "amphitheatre" means "a theatre in the shape of a full circle", and was happy to learn it.
I don't understand your criticism at all.
