Stefan Heym

A week ago, Stefan Heym, an interesting German author, passed away while on vacation in the Dead Sea in Israel. He came to Israel to attend the Heinrich Heine Society's convention.

He made it into my favorite authors list, once made into a somewhat derelict web page. If you can read Hebrew, my friend Yossi Gurvitz wrote an interesting book review on Heym's The King David Report.

Heym was an individualist, an East-German communist who rejected the East-German Communist Party, and the author of fifteen novels. Requiescat in pacem.
