In the past few years, there seems to be a huge growth of interest and vitality in Israeli high culture. The playhouses and the concert halls are full, literary journals blossom, all kinds of acts and installations attract thousands, and so on.
What do you think is the cause? It doesn't seem to be economical; could it be that the cultured are sick of "the situation" and stubbornly turn their gazes to the arts for relief and distraction?
