Martha Nussbaum on Zimbardo's Book
The great Martha Nussbaum reviews Philip Zimbardo's recent book, The Lucifer Effect, on how bad situations cause "normal" people to do bad things, printed in the TLS

hattie introduced me to Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment about eight years ago. Thanks, hattie!

Current Mood: pleased

How timely, and helpful!

I'm so glad you posted this link to an excellent article I'd otherwise have missed. The topic dovetails with one of my current top issues of focus and concern: brutality among IDF soldiers. (Check galileah soon for follow-up and a local link.)

Martha Nussbaum provides a great service in her review by pointing out the weaknesses in P. Zimbardo's book AND going on to offer supplementary material on other researchers and related concepts, aiding further pursuit of this vital topic. I intend to make good use of it.
