Cuddly Cthulhu
For those who didn't see it on dotandimet's syndicated blog: Hello Cthulhu: a comic strip showing why Cthulhu just doesn't inspire the necessary awe in some mortals.

I'm such a sucker for Cthulhu jokes...

update: regrettably, the author cannot spell.

cute diversion but ultimately unsatisfying...

...but thanks for making me aware of what's out there, such as it is.

"...Cthulhu just doesn't inspire the necessary awe in some mortals..." And just when we need to know the meaning of true evil and terror. Is this ironic or what? hmmmm... strange times in which we live.

...regrettably, the author cannot spell.
Yes, this is regrettable, though perhaps serves adequately enough as a warning that the au didn't do his/her homework.

Questionable grasp of the English language as well, e.g.:

-- cat meat is indigestible (to humans, anyway); I don't know if it could properly be termed 'inedible'.

-- "shrew" seems o.k. enough in this context, but "cur" implies a canine nature. Doesn't work for me; seems like the au is just bandying words about. I'd expect better command of the language (at least!) of Chthulhu. Sorry, not convincing dialogue.

unless that's a subtle turn meant as part of the joke for the cognoscenti? Ummm.. I don't think so. And I was initiated to both these figures back in the mid-70s, so I'm hard to fool.

I take back what I said... and shall add:

I was being a hardass, and excessively demanding.

Chthulhu is, after all, Not a Native Speaker. The near-misses I cited above are more along the lines, now that I think of it, of that ambassador-character in Babylon 5 (oh, dear - I've managed to forget his name AND his race!! -- he of the half-head of Big Hair and the prehensile genitals?), referring irritably to being "pecked to death by cats"...

Hello Kitty, I suddenly realize, is possibly the most articulate of her kind (i.e. Japanese speaker of English)! And a Google search failed to come up with a wonderful article I read a while back (when?? where?!?!) about the Sanrio cult phenomenon,
"I have no mouth and I must purr"...
