Remember the whole cardamom fiasco? Well, a kind soul pointed out to me that in my paper on Hemingway's Hills Like White Elephants (posted in a previous entry), I mistranslated "licorice" to the Hebrew שומר (Shumar), when in fact licorice is חוטמית ביצות (chotmit bitsot) and Shumar is called 'fennel' in English.

Remember, kids, Nyarlathotep is in the details!

Kind Soul Patrol

... is this the same kind soul that also argued that marshmellows are chotmit bitsot?
...Shouldn't we just translate it as "black Araq-flavoured candy of the crazy English"?
