Interviewed
Today I have been interviewed by a reporter for Ha'aretz, about Project Ben-Yehuda. The interview would most likely appear in print in the Friday issue. I hope it would be nice.

Current Mood: busy
Current Music: Beethoven -- String Trio in G Op.9

Congratulations...make sure they spell your name correctly!

What is Ben-Yehuda? I can read only English (sorry).

Eliezer Ben-Yehuda was the main person who worked on restoring Hebrew to use, both in speech and in print. "The Ben-Yehuda Project" is a Hebrew version of The Gutenberg project - to put online text to many known and less known books, old Hebrew classics etc.

That's a wonderful project...ancient texts, I presume, as well?

The Hebrew Bible is already available online at several different sites, as are the Mishna and Talmud. Other truly ancient texts, such as the Qumran documents, are not available to the public but are only published in expensive academic volumes.

But yes, we aim at including Hebrew texts regardless of their age, and some Hebrew poetry from the first centuries A.D. will be added soon.

Thanks! My name was spelt out in both Hebrew and English, and I trust the reporter to do the right thing. :)

As for the project, what morin said is correct, and here's a brief English FAQ.

That's as it should be! I'm rather concerned that the article might come out too much about me and too little about the project.
